Loss and Grief: Family Mourns Martha Murari Amid Poisoning Investigation

Officers at Kira Road Police Station are looking into a possible poisoning case at Mezo Noir, an upscale night club in Kampala, Uganda. An unfortunate event concerning a woman by the name of Martha Ahumuza Murari, who allegedly fainted within the manager’s office and was later declared dead, lies at the center of this investigation.

As it was reported by Patrick Onyango, the spokesperson from the Kampala Metropolitan Police, the seizure happened on the 20th of March in the year 2025, at around 3:30 in the morning. Martha collapsed and was taken to Kampala hospital where she was put on a life support machine, but eventually she passed away.

Earlier in the night, Martha was reported to have met up with her friend Edward Mugabo, who worked as a cashier at the club. The pair is said to have drank together until about half four in the morning when they allegedly shifted to the manager’s unveiwable office. Martha is said to have fainted in that office space. Mugabo then contacted his brother Joseph Kalenzi. Together they took her to the hospital.

In their attempts to figure out the cause of her unfortunate death, police have so far arrested Mugabo and Kalenzi. The two siblings are being held at Kira Road Police Station while authorities seek clarifications from them in respect to the death of Martha.

At the same time, Martha’s father, Seth Murari, has come out to share his sorrow while asking people to abstain from sharing incorrect details about his matter on social media. “It is with a heavy heart that I announce the loss of our beloved daughter, Ahumuza Martha. As of now, we ask the public to STOP speculating and circulating wrong information on social media as we put her to rest and let the security organs do their job of investigating,” he stated.

The late Martha Ahumuza Murari was laid to rest on Sunday, March 23, in her hometown of Mbarara.
